On May 19, 2017, join Bryan O’Malley, Executive Director of The Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State (CDPAANYS), and Hermes Fernandez Co-Chair of Bond, Schoeneck & King Health Law Practice for an intensive training session on the increasingly popular Consumer Directed Personal Assistance (CDPA) program.
This one-time intensive session will be at the UJA-Federation of New York, located in midtown Manhattan. Capacity is limited and registration will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Morning Session: 8 AM to 12 PM – Breakfast will be provided.
Afternoon Session: 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM – Light refreshments will be provided.
CDPAANYS has been the sole organization in New York State to exclusively represent fiscal intermediaries in CDPA since the program’s very beginning, playing a role in the law’s passage, the development and implementation of the regulations governing the program, and all advisory documents related to CDPA. CDPAANYS has also played a critical role in the transition of CDPA to managed care, serving on the Department of Health’s Transition Committee, negotiating the standard Administrative Agreement between plans and fiscal intermediaries, and conducting training sessions with managed long term care plans on how they could successfully utilize CDPA for their members.
Hermes Fernandez has served as counsel to CDPAANYS since 2002 as well as providing technical assistance to numerous fiscal intermediaries regarding regulatory compliance, contract negotiations, consumer agreement development, and more. Mr. Fernandez has also represented fiscal intermediaries on labor issues and advised both new and seasoned fiscal intermediaries on implementation of both the Affordable Care Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Domestic Worker Bill of Rights. During the Fair Labor Standards Act, Mr. Fernandez wrote an amicus brief on behalf of CDPAANYS on the impact of the overtime and travel rules on CDPA. The brief prompted a question from the bench during the appeal.
With a combined 22 years of experience interpreting, advising and developing CDPA, the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of NYS and Bond, Schoeneck & King are New York State’s foremost experts on CDPA.
This event will provide critical information about CDPA and the role of an FI including:
- The history of CDPA;
- The role of a Fiscal Intermediary;
- A Fiscal Intermediary’s obligations in regard to overtime, the minimum wage, the Affordable Care Act, and more;
- How to protect yourself against lawsuits; and much more.
Don’t miss this opportunity. It may not be offered again. Register today!
